Research into Music Genres: RnB/Soul

Definition of RnB/Soul Music:

1) Rhythm and blues, often abbreviated to R&B, is a genre of popular African American music that originated in the 1940s.

2) Contemporary R&B (also known as simply R&B) is a music genre that combines elements of hip hop, R&B, and pop music.



RnB/Soul Music

R&B/Soul music is one of the popular music genres originated from the United States in the 1950s to early 1960s, including elements of rhythm and blues. Catchy rhythms and handclaps are important features of soul music. Instruments used in R&B/Soul music are guitar, bass guitar,piano, drums, keyboards and organ.

Pros and Cons of R&B/Soul Music:
Pros:
- Different tempos/pitch/tones of artists voices.
- Different style of soul music.
Cons:
- Stereotypically younger generation prefer R&B/Soul music.
- Has elements of rapping involved
