Band Branding Creativity Task, Portfolio

In our Media lesson today we were given a Band Branding task, to help us with our own Band Branding for our music video. Our teacher gave us a a package filled with information of an unknown band and their band history, also hearing their song St Andrews, which we would be making a concept of the music video too. Our task was to:

1. Respect individuality and creativity of the bands music.

2. Create vision to the band and a detailed breakdown of the creative process for the end result.

3. Concept for a video and creative process.

We had to consider the Audience, Representation and the Creativity behind our creativity process for the concept of a music video.

Bedouin Soundclash

Creative Process

Step One:

Opened the Band Artist package and read through the bands history, background information of each band member, awards won and nominations, and gigs/festivals performed at.

Step Two:

Highlighted key information, lyrics of the band's song and the representation of the band themselves. For example the image of the band walking across the train line, the drummer Sekou Lumumba, has a religious cross necklace representing that the band may have religious references.

Step Three:

Identified the band genre from listening to St Andrews; Alternative Rock and Reggae.

Step Four:

Brainstormed Bedouin Soundclash and the band history.

Step Five:

Brainstormed a music video concept for St Andrews

We wanted our Video Concept to include:
- Religious reference
- Urban not country theme
- Natural/neutral colour scheme
- Reggae festival in a church background.
